I just read an article in the Baltimore Sun that reported on an interview on NPR with Barack Obama. It mainly talked about Obama's opinion on the war with Iraq and how it differs from Clinton's. I have been reading the news about the 2008 Election candidates but I hadn't really heard any interviews or speeches by Obama before. I only knew his views from how the media portrayed them, I hadn't yet heard them come directly from him. So this interview was really interesting. There is a difference between knowing about someone and then actually hearing how they speak, and how they process information and how they express themselves. I first started reading the article thinking I would blog about something to do with Obama vs. Clinton but then I was really intrigued by the responses that Obama was giving. He gave me this impression of a very calm and rational persona. I also saw him as not trusting everything congress and the Bush-Cheney team tries to get voted for and that is REALLY important because by now I think its been pretty clear that they are not to be trusted.
I know that many people do not think that Obama has a chance against Clinton because he is so young and not as experienced, but I think that it is time for a change. Not just a small change but a HUGE change. America needs a young, spirited and rational person to change things for the better.

i do agree.. America needs a change.. we all know it. And i think people do have a certain portrayal of obama, becasue they dont know much about him. Just like you, they had never seen him speak or heard what he realy had to say or how he said it. Im not an expert on him by any means, but i do think he is has a lot of good to contribute to America, and I tihnk people should give him more of a chance. maybe it would be the best decision America could make.. :)
America definitely needs to look in a new direction for...direction.
Is Obama the right choice? I have my reservations. I hear a lot about change, but not exactly how he's going to make it happen. We need to look past his ability to charm an audience and see what his plans are really about.
All the candidates are like that, really. At this point I don't really want any of them to run the country. Except Stephen Colbert, or course.
I totally agree that hearing the candidate and seeing how he or she expresses herself and holds herself is a huge factor in knowing who they really are. I mean it helped out Bill Clinton so much in his election. Maybe, hopefully, it will help out Obama too, who definitely should stand a chance against Hilary. We do need a change. I'm still deciding myself what that change is, and I'm not sure any one running right now may be able to give us the change we need. But we do have to work with what we're given, and Stephen Colbert is NOT an option (I don't think I'd want him anyways), so we need to look at our BEST option, even if it might not be THE best option.
Obama does seem to be the hip young newcomer that could shake up things in Washington, and while I'm not sure if he's the best candidate yet (I still have a year to decide) he does seem to be the "coolest." I've seen him on radio shows, late night TV shows, and all over the internet as a young guy hoping to make changes. If he keeps doing what he's doing, he'll be just fine in 2008
